Need

The Site Location

We envisage the rural family centre to be located at a farm, along the A443. It is an ideal location for the purposes of a rural family centre as it has excellent road infrastructure that connects Worcestershire and Herefordshire via the A443 and A456. The ideal site is approximately a minimum of 3 acres and sits within Malvern Hills administrative area with Worcester immediately to the south.

We will identify a particular site as the obvious site, having taken into consideration relevant planning, and highways policy, existing and proposed developments and impact upon the local environment.

Our existing smaller site of 0.33 acres is located at Top Barn Business Centre.

CONTEXT

Site Context

As part of identifying and designing the site, we have taken, and continue to take into consideration, the surrounding environment and important factors. Such factors include landscape, ecology, flood risk and drainage, agriculture, and air quality.

Where necessary, mitigation measures form an integral part of the scheme so as to ensure that the environment is suitably protected and any adverse impacts from the proposed development are minimised as far as possible.

Gaps

Currently gaps exist in our local services that focus on infant mental health and parent-infant relationships. Working alongside the Parent Infant Foundation and together with our community, we have identified key gaps through our local needs analyses.

1. Parent-infant relationship services, particularly those based in the community

2. Perinatal mental health services for mild to moderate need

3. Support into employment targeted at solo parents; overwhelmingly mothers needing support into employment
